Special Needs Teaching Assistant
The School
Are you a Special Needs experienced Teaching Assistant who is looking for temporary work, up to 5 days per week? Can you offer your specific skills to develop children's lives within this specialist setting? Would you be interested in market leading pay rates?
The school is housed in new purpose built accommodation, designed to meet the special needs of the pupils from nursery to post 16. Facilities have taken into account the broad range of needs of pupils at the school enabling their access to an inclusive, creative and successful education. The school is planned around two courtyards with distinctly designed areas for Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 pupils. The majority of classrooms are based on the ground floor, specialist classrooms are situated on the first floor which is served by two large lifts. Meeting rooms and office accommodation will provide access for families to meetings with other professionals including representatives from Health and Education.

Key Tasks
- To support the teacher in implementing a Team Teach Approach within the classroom.
- To support the development of pupils communication skills through the implementation of Speech and Language Programmes, PECs and the use of augmentative communication systems
- To support the development of pupils social skills through the implementation of social skills programmes and the use of clear visual and physical structures within the classroom
- To work with staff in developing pupils programmes on the moderation of their sensory needs
- To support pupils challenging behaviour that may be displayed due to their communication, social and sensory needs
- To review the progress and achievements of the pupils regularly with the class teacher. Knowledge/Experience
The post holder is expected too possess a relevant professional qualification, e.g. NNEB or be prepared to undertake appropriate training.
