Commercial Billing Negotiator Utility Billing
Housed in modern offices near Reading we identify previously unbilled revenue for utility companies from commercial properties that have not been billed for all of the services that they have received. We term this the identification of revenue from partially billed commercial properties.
We have been very successful and are working for 8 of the 10 water and sewerage companies in the UK and have just completed a successful pilot project for a major electricity supplier. To identify missing revenue we collect facility information for properties of a similar type and build usage profiles to enable us to compare a property’s estimated usage with its actual usage.
We have recently extended the service that we offer our clients by taking on the responsibility of contacting our client’s customers when an under billed amount has been identified. We then liaise directly with the customer with the aim to negotiate and ultimately agree the settlement of the outstanding sum.
We would like you to come and work with the team and help us to develop and grow this side of the business. You will work closely with our Lead Generators and Site Investigators to enable you to understand and interpret the technical complexities and aspects of the unbilled revenue that they have identified.
This will enable you to issue a letter, clearly documenting our findings, and then successfully negotiate the unbilled amounts with the bill payers to ensure they clearly understand and recognise their liability and hence are happy to settle the amount owed. This may at times involve visiting large commercial customers and agreeing liability and billed amounts with Finance Directors/ Facility Managers.
You will be also be responsible for developing and implementing the billing processes to ensure the accuracy of the bills we issue to our clients customers. To do this you will work very closely with our clients to understand and apply their basket of tariffs and billing policies.
You must be a confident individual, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive outlook. It is essential that both your written and spoken English is of a high standard. This role may suit an individual with previous legal training and experience with negotiating and using your powers of persuasion. You will be expected to draft correspondence and negotiate with the customers with minimum supervision and must therefore be confident in your drafting and telephone manner.
Our excellent salary and bonus package are based on meeting challenging but achievable targets. We strongly believe in self-development, supporting innovation and rewarding success. All this means that this is a great opportunity for you to develop and grow with the business.
