Renaissance recorders appeared in the early 16th century and survived until the more sophisticated baroque recorder replaced it in the early 18th century. Early examples had wide bores and a warm tone with good volume.
P.G. Bleazey's renaissance recorders are typical of this type. This one is made from maple wood and is pitched at A=440.
