We are a couple with an 11 month old house cat looking to rent a property in Reading or very close to Reading.
We lived In Reading last year but unfortunately had to leave our home very quickly due to a family emergency and used all our money putting ourselves up down here so have no money to return.
When we lived in Reading before we were claiming housing benefit and we'd like to do this again, if we could find a landlord who will accept housing benefit.
The council take 4 to 6 weeks to set up your claim for housing b, but once your claim has been accepted (which we know it will be as it was before) then money is given backdated for the date you made your claim onwards....so you may have to wait 6 weeks for your money, but you will get it all back in a lump sum. The money is also set up to be paid directly into the landlords bank account so there's piece of mind for you there as well. We will give you full access to our claim so you can phone up the council at any time and check the progress and confirm that the money will be paid directly into your account every month.
For a self-contained 1 bedroom house/flat we are entitled to £650 pcm, if we are sharing facilities this is reduced to £300pcm.
