Next Reading Japan Club, 5pm Saturday 26th September, The Great Expectations pub
mina-san
gumtree wa nihongo ga kakemasen node nihongo no setsumei ha http://readingjapanclub.net wo mite kudasai.
There's a new social event for anyone interested in Japan or Japanese. It's free. It's for Japanese people and English or any nationality with an interest in Japan.
There's more of a description about it at http://readingjapanclub.net but basically we hope it can build into more of a community for people that share an interest in Japan.
The first event last month was a great success with around 25 people attending, and a really great atmosphere. The pub has been kind enough to allow us to have the front room to ourselves, and due to some feedback we had, we've decided to hold it a little earlier so that those with families can bring their children along.
Children can't be there after 8pm though, so it will be adults only after that.
The pub is not a particluarly noisy pub for a Saturday, with plenty of room, walking distance from the train station, so it's a good location. They do food, teas and coffees, and have they free wifi.
The Great Expectations,
33 London Street,
Reading,
RG1 4PS.
We've had around 100 unique visitors to the website, so if you're one of those people who's interested, but wondering whether or not you should attend then I'd say please do come down. It's people like you that make the event.
The Bristol Japan Club that I used to attend, could occasionally get 3 or 4 people, but some months it would be as many as 50. It was always good fun and nice to meet people with similar interests.
I believe there are Japanese people, and Japanese speakers out there in Reading, and the surrounding areas, and from conversations I've had, a few people have mentioned they wished there was some kind of social event to meet people.
It's the people that make it. So please do come along, even if you can only stay for a short while.
It's free.
You've got nothing to lose, and you might make some new friends, and get to practice English or Japanese.
