Based on the communicative approach, it examines the major problems facing teachers at both operational and strategic levels. It begins by defining the objectives of the A-level course in terms of content and language and treats other issues needing consideration at the planning stage. Major chapters are devoted to examples of exercises and activities designed to develop each of the four skills, complete with commentary. Further chapters deal with the design of a single topic unit, assessment issues and resourcing the course. The author's experience as a chief examiner, A-level teacher and writer of teaching materials enables him to provide practical advice on all aspects of the syllabus for experienced teachers as well as those new to teaching at this level.

It does refer to the old style A-Level, but would still be a useful guide to finding/producing suitable resources for A1 / A2.
