Oss Business Devlopment Consultant
Job Purpose
You will sit between the business sales force and project-based technical functions of the Business Unit. The position will provide the core technical support for the pre-sales activities.
Day-to-day duties
-Own the responsibility for the pre-sales technical engagement, including but not exclusively providing the technical input on the Work on Request-for-Information (RFI) and Request-for-Proposal (RFP) response documentation
-Work on customer engagements, pre-sales architecture development and proof-of-concept developments
-Develop proposals and statements of work to define end-to-end solutions.
-Communicate effectively technical and project related information across all levels
-Develop good working relationships with the client and key stakeholders
-Identify and resolve problems, as well as working closely with technical team members
Essential general skills
-Able to demonstrate expertise working on complex/in-depth solutions developing viable and achievable bid responses
-The ability to assess the customers` business objectives and requirements
-Excellent working knowledge of the IT and Internet industry
-Telecoms knowledge
-Good understanding of known issues and constraints with the IT and telecom technologies currently prevalent within the industry
-Ability to liaise with technical contacts from developer to director level
-Knowledge of n-tier e-commerce architectures design and operation
-Strong communication skills and a background in working in a structured, formalised, environment.
Essential technical skills
-Significant technical experience including EAI, Web Services, Java, packaged OSS applications, application servers, Oracle, Unix
-Experience with core web technologies such as HTML etc
-Knowledge of non-Microsoft technologies, such as Java, PHP, MySQL etc
-Knowledge of XML
Desirable skills
-Familiarity with databases technology and the SQL language
-High level understanding of network infrastructure and Internet transport protocols
-Working knowledge of accepted software notations such as UML
Education
-Degree qualified or equivalent
