HOW DOES IPL WORK??

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is one of the few systems that is clinically proven and approved by the FDA for permanent hair reduction of facial and body hair. This sophisticated procedure targets the melanin found naturally in the hair shaft and hair follicle. Each pulse of light causes the temperature within the hair follicle to rise, when it reaches around 65-70C, the protein of the hair cells and surrounding follicle denatures, resulting in the destruction of the germinative cells responsible for hair growth and each active hair follicle dies, its ability to re-grow is destroyed.

HOW MANY IPL TREATMENTS DO I NEED??

Hair growth is cyclical, as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Only follicles in the growth phase contain hair that can be destroyed by the heat, resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can effectively be destroyed. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hair density, thickness, ethnic origin, hormonal status and age. The recommendation is 3-8 treatments, however, this is just a guideline.
