Everyone agrees that what we eat will affect our health, both in positive and negative ways. However, there is increasing evidence that our genes can have a significant influence on our health and how we respond to food. We are currently recruiting volunteers for a study that will look at how eating different types of fats may affect the flexibility of blood vessels (an early indicator of risk of cardiovascular disease) in individuals with different genetic make-ups.

We have recruited 90% of the people we require for this study, but are keen to get the last volunteers so we can complete the study before the end of the year.

Who:
-Healthy men of British/European descent, 18-65 years of age, who do not smoke or drink more than 30 units of alcohol (approx 14 pints per week).

-Receive substantial payment in recognition of your time and travel expenses

What:
-Drink chocolate-flavoured test drinks
-Spend the day relaxing, watch TV, read a book, use your computer
-Give small blood samples throughout the day
-Have the flexibility of your blood vessels measured using non-invasive techniques
-Have your insulin sensitivity measured through an infusion of glucose and insulin

When:
2 weekdays, at least 1 week apart.
