Occupational Therapy Assistant required for a Surrey based organisation.
Role:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant works in a central team of occupational therapists, support workers, administration staff to provide specialist professional skills in the care of disabled people living in the community. The occupational therapy assistant will take into consideration personal independence, aspects of employment, social activities and family relationships. The occupational therapy assistant will report to and receive supervision from a designated Occupational Therapist.
Responsible: The provision of an Occupational Therapy service to vulnerable adults, children, their families and carers in the community setting.
Specific details:
* Work individually and in partnership with other professionals and agencies to undertake a holistic assessment of vulnerable people (adults and children) and their families and carers.
* Complete the holistic assessment and reviews within the legislative framework and using the eligibility criteria / guidelines for services within departmental targeted timescales.
* Assess the need for and make recommendations for the provision of designated major adaptations, for example door entry systems, complex steps/galvanised rails liaising with appropriate professionals and agencies.
* To be responsible for financial expenditure on own allocated work within OT Service/Departmental procedures.
* Monitor and review care plans to ensure they meet assessed needs and service standards within target timescales. Take appropriate action where gaps are identified including and advising designated line manager/supervisor and other departments in line with departmental procedures.
* Manage an assigned caseload in compliance with agreed casework objectives, statutory and departmental policy about Child Protection and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults are identified immediately and reported to supervisor/line manager in line with departmental policies and procedure.
The successful candidate will need to hold a current CRB (issued 2009) and hold a valid UK driving license. The post is looking to run for a minimum 3 months contract.
