elearning Developer
This growing organisation based in Reading are looking to recruit content experts to develop and maintain elearning products, ensuring that developed elearning products use best practice standards and technologies.
Accountabilities
The eLearning Developer will be responsible for developing and supporting elearning products, including;
* Developing new web and elearning products, including adding new elements of functionality to the existing materials;
* Specify and engage with the development and build of the web and elearning delivery platform;
* Involvement in the day-to-day running of elearning products, updating, maintaining and supporting developed products, to ensure they remain up to date;
* Assisting in the development of user documentation and the provision of training to users;
* Testing functionality of developed elearning products and tools;
* Monitoring online usage and the reporting of trends;
* Linking with the learning producers, learning designers and suppliers of the Strategy's web and elearning developments to ensure that developments are successfully completed to the Strategies standards and specifications;
* Ensuring that change control processes are in operation;
* Ensuring e-products are delivered on time and to budget;
* Pro-actively suggesting and engaging in projects designed to improve the business efficiency of the company;
* Any other duties commensurate with the level and areas of responsibility of the post.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge
Essential
* Advanced skills in the development and support of engaging and interactive elearning products
* XHTML and CSS
* Flash and ActionScript,
* Javascript, including Jquery or other Javascript libraries
* W3C and e-Gov accessibility standards
* Enthusiasm for the potential of the web to inform, educate and engage
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and excellent communication skills
* Self starter with ability to plan and prioritise workload
Desirable
* A sound knowledge and understanding of using content and learning management systems (knowledge of Drupal would be advantageous);
* PHP and SQL programming
* XML and XSL-T programming skills
* Knowledge of Adobe Captivate, and other rapid e-learning tools
* Knowledge and understanding of graphic design principles
* Knowledge and understanding of developing SCORM compliant e-learning products
* Knowledge of current public sector online communications issues
Experience
Essential
* Experience in the development of elearning products in a learning environment
* Understanding of accessibility, compliance and interoperability issues and standards within government
* Experience of online publishing
Desirable
* Experience of working with Government web sites, preferably in Education
* Understanding of blended learning delivery
* Successful project management experience in a web delivery role
