Service Area Engineer
Our client is looking for an experienced Service Area Engineer, The Service Area Engineer is a crucial role as part of a designated service area team dealing with 2G and 3G network enhancement tasks. The Service Area Engineer role will also include deployment and planning of new network functionality and field team liaison. The Service Area Engineer role is challenging due to the variety of work offered and the skills required to ensure all planned work is completed, the Service Area Engineer will be expected to utilise best practice and process ownership to ensure the highest possible quality of service to the customer.
Reporting to the Team Leader the Service Area Engineer will:-
1. Evaluate and carry out planned events within agreed time-scales and to a high standard.
2. Deliver network enhancements and new functionality efficiently, maintaining minimal impact to network performance & QOS
3. Liaise with field engineers for fault rectification and undertaking of planned work.
4. Provide technical assistance to both RMC and Field personnel as appropriate.
5. Plan 2G and 3G transmission and connectivity using Vodafone Planning Tools
6. Produce and implement 2G and 3G Data Transcripts onto the Live network
7. Configure and program a number of Vodafone Network Elements
8. Lucent Optical Management Circuit provisioning activates, including SNCP Protection Planning and provisioning activities
9. Undertake routine tasks and activities in line with KPI's and SLA's
10. Work closely with Optimisation to improve network performance
Typical Outputs for the Service Area Engineer:
Support of Area Team duties as required.
Delivering planned work network enhancements in line with SLA's and KPI's Performance reporting
Operational Experience required for the Service Area Engineer role:
* Working as part of a small skilled engineering team in a high-pressure frontline environment is desirable.
* Exposure to Process Improvement methodologies in a customer focused organisation.
* Ability to assimilate and prioritise complex events within given time-scales, reporting and managing these events within a workflow management tool.
* Good understanding of how the Vodafone network is structured.
* Understanding of a Radio Base Station and its configuration.
* Knowledge of Ericsson 2G 3G network entities
* Working knowledge of SDH/PDH transmission principles
* Understanding of 3G circuit hierarchy and WCDMA desirable
* Experience of network databases and planning tools (knowledge of Cramer Planning tool is an advantage)
* Experience of using multiple data sources and tools to generate reports.
* Methodical and flexible approach to work/tasks.
* Experience of using workflow and process management tools
* A comprehension of services and products, in order to understand the service management of the Vodafone network.
* Experience with Lucent Provisioning tools (such as OMS) is also an advantage
