Water or Wastewater Policy and Strategy Manager
Our client is seeking 3 water or waste water policy and strategy managers and specialists to join their team in Reading.
What is the purpose of this role?
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small dynamic team in Strategy and Regulation leading the development of company strategy for the wastewater service. There are 3 positions available within this team so if you are a experienced in either water or wastewater we would like you to apply.
What will this role involve?
To lead the development of company strategy covering the service to our wastewater customers by engaging with relevant stakeholders and regulators, considering industry positioning and customer preferences. To influence the legislative and regulatory agenda on water or wastewater issues, interpreting potential business impacts and determining the appropriate company response within the relevant timescale.
To ensure that strategies are clearly documented and approved by the appropriate governing bodies allowing the provision of clear direction to the Asset Management team to ensure future plans are consistent with agreed company strategy. To agree the process for implementation of company wastewater strategy and monitor effectiveness of implementation by Asset Management and Service Providers. Depending on your speciality you will lead the development of strategic position statements setting company direction for water resources & water resources planning; drinking water quality; demand management (leakage, metering and water efficiency) and abstraction licensing. or for Wastewater discharges (from sewage treatment works and the sewerage network); Flooding (pluvial, fluvial and from sewers); sustainable urban drainage and the Water Framework Directive.

What are we looking for?
A strategist with a proven track record of influencing at the highest levels both within company and with external bodies. You will have a degree in a relevant discipline or other relevant technical qualification, such as membership of relevant institute/professional body. You will have extensive experience of technical and managerial experience in the water industry. You should be able to demonstrate strategy development experience, including cross-disciplinary strategy and possess excellent influencing, analytical and communication skills, both written and oral. Ideally you will have a highly developed expertise in either water resources or wastewater and be recognised externally.
