My client based in Reading is looking to recruit a qualified accountant to join them as a finance manager for initially a 6 month contract. This job has possible options to go permanent.

The role:

-          to plan and organise the team's workload to ensure work is up-to-date and that deadlines are met;

-          to oversee the processing of financial data, to ensure complete, accurate and timely capture;

-          to monitor the effectiveness of the processing systems; to manage the general ledger and ensure that reconciliations are prepared and cleared on a timely basis and reconciled in a monthly package;

-          to prepare monthly flash reports, for distribution within one day of month end;

-          to generate monthly management accounts, with supporting analysis and commentaries, for review within five days of month end; review monthly and quarterly accounts and own the variance and commentary process

-          to support draft statutory accounts in accordance with corporate deadlines;

-          to prepare a file for the Auditors to support all balances in the accounts;

-          to review and authorise finance transactions, amendments and returns including VAT ;

-          as part of the budgeting and re-forecasting processes , to manage the financial data collection and analysis for business plans and forecasts to supervise the update of the corporate planning models;

-          ongoing review of work practices for elimination, automation or improvement, this includes the review of existing processes with the aim of automating and minimising (where applicable) non-value add activities;

-          to work with individuals within the team to meet their personal development objectives.

-          manage significant quantities of ad hoc analysis
